John Riker, Senior Pastor
Pastor John Riker was born into a pastor's home. He was reared as a Hoosier, living in Zionsville, Indiana from 1973-1983. He moved with his family to Linton, Indiana when his father accepted the pastorate at Calvary Baptist Church of Linton. His heart was quickly knit to the people of Greene County. In his early teen years, the Lord began to guide him to minister to teens and to children so he began working every summer at Hoosier Hills Baptist Camp. The Lord continued to use his parents and his teachers to mold his life in the home and at Calvary Baptist Church. He graduated from Calvary Christian School in 1991 and then continued his studies at Heritage Baptist University where he graduated in 1995. Following his college graduation, he accepted the Lord's call to join the pastoral staff at Calvary Baptist Church. He and his wife, Stephanie, met while serving at Hoosier Hills Baptist Camp and were married in 1996. They have served the Lord side-by-side for over 20 years at CBC and within the Christian school. God has blessed them with 4 children. Upon entering Linton you will notice a sign stating “You'll like Linton!” Pastor John Riker and his family hope that you will visit and “like CBC” where you will find a warm welcome.
Dr. H. Eugene Riker, Pastor Emeritus
Dr. H. Eugene Riker and his wife, Dolores, began their ministry at Calvary Baptist Church and Calvary Christian School in August 1983. Dr. Riker would be senior pastor and administrator of the school. The school was re-structured with emphasis on Christian service. Graduates were encouraged to attend schools of theology following high-school graduation. Mrs. Riker was the office manager and taught art in the school. Together they took students on missionary trips and other tours. He preached campaigns in Brazil, Canada and Great Brittan. The students and Mrs. Riker assisted with the meetings. Together they hosted over 100 such tours. Mrs. Riker was hospitalized on October 27, 2015, and at 5:10 A.M. on Friday, October 30, she rested from her labors for the Lord. Her death was completely unexpected leaving a great void in the school and church. Dr. and Mrs. Riker are both graduates of Indiana public schools and Indiana Baptist College, Heritage Baptist University and Seminary. He was converted on March 25, 1968, and she two years later. Dr. Riker has continued on the pastoral staff at Calvary following Mrs. Riker's passing. He preaches in the regular services at the church and the Monday morning chapel in the school. He served 20 years on the board of BWMOM, 20 years as a director/trustee at Heritage Baptist College and 25 years as Academic Director for competition for A.C.E. At this date he is not serving any of the above ministries. He is an active member and frequent speaker of the International Fellowship of Fundamental Baptists. He is the voice of the Grace and Truth radio broadcast. Go to our Sermon Library for an archive of Dr. Riker's preaching. Please feel free to listen to his messages, then download them to share with others. This helps us to spread the Word of God.
